    How to connect Ally to ChatGPT

    Where you will find the listing

    After approval, users will find the verified Ally listing in ChatGPT's Plugin Directory. The connection itself is managed in ChatGPT app settings for your account. OpenAI's labels for these surfaces change over time, so this page uses plain descriptions rather than screenshots that could go stale.

    What the public connection flow will look like

    1. Open the verified listing

      When Ally is publicly listed, you will open it from ChatGPT's Plugin Directory. This page will link directly to the verified listing when it is available.

    2. Install or enable the Ally app in ChatGPT

      In ChatGPT, install or enable the Ally app for your account. Availability, labels, and controls vary by ChatGPT plan, workspace, role, region, and surface.

    3. Sign in to the correct Ally account

      ChatGPT will send you to Ally to sign in. Use the Ally account that has the aquatic spaces you want to ask about.

    4. Review the read-only consent screen

      Ally will show you exactly what the identity scopes are and what the connector can do. Nothing runs until you approve.

    5. Approve

      Approving grants ChatGPT permission to call the four read-only tools during your ChatGPT sessions when your questions need them.

    6. Return to ChatGPT and ask about your data

      Ask about your aquatic spaces, a current snapshot, water-test history, or upcoming tasks. ChatGPT will call the right tool when your question needs the data.

    Identity scopes vs tool data

    Ally's OAuth identity scopes are exactly openid, email, profile. Those tell Ally who is signing in. They are separate from the data returned by the four read-only tools once ChatGPT invokes them. See the full tool list for exactly what each tool can retrieve.

    Managing the connection

    You can review or disconnect Ally at any time from ChatGPT's connector or app settings. For account controls on the Ally side, sign in to Ally and open Help. Full details are on the privacy and permissions page.
