Privacy and control for Ally in ChatGPT
A plain-language summary of what the Ally ChatGPT connection can see, how it is triggered, and how you turn it off. This summary does not replace Ally's full Privacy Policy or Terms.
Identity scopes at sign-in
When you approve the Ally connector, ChatGPT receives exactly these identity scopes: openid, email, profile. These identify who signed in. They are not water-data scopes and they do not grant access to Ally records by themselves.
What tools can retrieve
After sign-in, ChatGPT can call the four read-only Ally tools during your ChatGPT sessions. Tools run only when a request in ChatGPT needs them. There is no background sync, no proactive indexing, and no scheduled transfer. See the full field list on What it can access.
What the connection cannot do
- Create, edit, complete, schedule, dose, or delete anything in Ally.
- Control equipment or send commands to devices.
- Access Ally data without an active, authenticated Ally session.
Disconnect, sign-out, chats, memory, account, and subscription
These are different controls. They live in different places:
- Disconnect Ally in ChatGPT. Stops future tool access. It does not delete any ChatGPT conversations or saved memories that already reference Ally data.
- Sign out of Ally. Signs your Ally app or web session out. It is not the same as disconnecting the ChatGPT connector.
- ChatGPT chat deletion, Memory, and Data Controls. Managed inside ChatGPT and governed by OpenAI's policies and your plan or workspace settings.
- Ally account deletion. Removes your Ally data per Ally's Privacy Policy. Handled in the Ally app under settings.
- App Store subscription. Cancelled through Apple in your App Store account. It is separate from Ally account deletion and from ChatGPT.
How OpenAI handles data on its side
How ChatGPT stores or uses conversation content depends on OpenAI's terms, your ChatGPT plan or workspace, your data-control settings, your feedback choices, and OpenAI's privacy policy. Ally does not control those settings and does not promise how OpenAI treats data on its side.
